Description

Originally coming together as The Desirays, Patty Brown, Pat Kent and Donna Schultz renamed themselves as The Surf Bunnies, bleached their hair blonde and released two singles on the Goliath label (which was picked up and distributed via Dot Records) during '63 - "Surf Bunny Beach" b/w "Our Surfer Boys" and "Surf City High" b/w "Met The Boy I Adore" - both backed by local band The Vulcanes. Released amongst the tidal wave of surf-related singles neither achieved any significant amount of national success (although they did chart on a number of local LA radio lists) and, along with other surf-girl-groups such as The Beach Girls, The Surfettes and, more famously The Honeys, were soon swept out to sea.

After the personal appearances to promote the singles dried up (including spots on TV dance shows hosted by both Wink Martindale and Lloyd Thaxton, and at least one concert performance supporting The Beach Boys), and a further recording session backing up a 45 by Bob Eubanks, the trio split up, although Pat Kent made one further 'surf-single' as a member of The Seashells - 1964's "Love Those Beach Boys"
