‘Devoted’ is one of the most love song loves songs I’ve ever written. I wrote it after going to a friends wedding and just being so happy for them and so kind of taken aback by all of the love that was around on the whole day from everyone there. It was just after the pandemic and I think everyone was just so grateful to be out celebrating something so positive and wholesome. I think the song can be interpreted in lots of different ways too - it can be a romantic song or song about love in family or friendship but it can be about self love and just committing to always be there for yourself too. When I wrote it I was recording another song with Ian and he was working on the track - and I was just playing different ideas on the piano in the corner of the studio. It just kind of came out all at once as a little folk song and we just started recording it. I love it when songs happen like that - sometimes it’s like songs are found rather than written and this was definitely the case with Devoted.
